Staying at the Children's House has been very handy. They have provided dinners all week, so we take turns going back and grabbing some free food. Tonight was the Halloween party there, so some kids were dressed up and trick or treating around the house. We weren't around for it obviously, but they do make holidays fun for the kids. And same for the hospital, they dropped off a huge goodie bag for lily today of toys and candy, which she really didn't care about. But we'll save it for another day. Other than that, I'm starting to get very bored around here and it's only day 2! Today just dragged on. But this is the time where she sleeps so much, I know she'll need me more and more as she wakes up. I'm missing being with the boys on Halloween, but I know they will have a blast with their friends tonight. If you see them around in the next few weeks, give them a big hug for me. They might think you're weird, but just do it and say it's from me.

Day 2 after surgery / Halloween
I stayed with Lily last night so Benny could sleep at the Children's House. Our plan is to take turns every night staying with her. Sleeping at the hospital isn't terrible, but it isn't good either. The bed/couch is actually decent. But it's the noises and stress of watching Lily that makes it brutal. I almost sleep with one eye open, because if she whimpers or says my name I'm up again. Last night and today she's still in and out of sleep a lot. But she started having a little pain in her tummy area, and we think she's having some bladder spasms. So they gave her some Valium. Bladder spasms are very normal to get since she has tubes inside her bladder. It's a like a foreign object, and if it moves a little the bladder can spasm, and feel weird and hurt a little. Again another reason why I wish I could trade places with her. I know what a shot or IV feels like, but this, I have no idea. The good thing is that she's making a little progress here and there. She's moving her limbs around more and talking more. She's getting more urine out. We are patiently waiting for her to pass gas still, could be another day or two, so still can't drink anything till then. Only little ice chips. She is still kinda swollen, but once that goes down we'll really see how much weight she's lost so far. It's heartbreaking, but we keep saying "this won't be forever, it's going to get better".
