The surgery finished right at the 15 hour mark. We couldn't believe it! The last hour was really just closing everything, cleaning, and bandaging. So we just kept on waiting. Dr G came out to tell us that all went great and he was pleased by how everything turned out. We'll find out more tomorrow when he comes by to check on her. It was somewhere around 11pm when they finally called us back to see her. We had been prepped the night before on what to expect. Tubes, bags, drains, blood, etc. She was also very swollen and a puffy face. She was doing really good. She opened her eyes and sadly said "mommy". I cuddled her head and stroked her hair. She squeezed my hand. I started crying. It was the culmination of so much waiting and stress today.
The bummer is that she still has to have an NG tube in her nose for awhile. Plus her throat is very dry and sore. They took her back up to our room which is great, no ICU needed. The nurses on the floor are helping great. Benny is staying with her tonight, and I'm heading back to get some sleep at the Children's House. As much as a cannot leave her, I'm going on 2 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours. Will update tomorrow sometime.

Breaks my heart to think of my poor little Lilly having to go through all of this. Thank you Lord for watching over her during surgery. Praying for a continued successful recovery and sleep for Mom and Dad. =) oh and don't worry about the new grey hairs... They are just highlights. =)
