Things are looking up!

More improvements last night and this morning!  Last night Lily got her NG tube out, which was amazing. She felt better instantly.  They said she can start drinking things in the morning.  She slept great last night, which means I also slept great last night.  Feeling happy and energized today.  We gave her her first taste of flavor today (watered down apple juice) that she's had in 8 days.  She was so happy and I was jumping up and down with joy!  We have to take things really slow still though.  Today will just be clear liquids - so back to juice, Popsicles , jello and broth.  It's ironic that the day before surgery she had to drink only clear fluids and she thought it was torture . . . now having not eaten for a week, those things sound like heaven!  Tomorrow we can move to things like ice cream, pudding, and softer foods.  Very exciting.

All the teams stopped by today and all had good things to say like "we're happy with the progress" and "things are going beautifully".  Music to my ears!  With her feeling better, she's awake more during the day and is sleeping at night.  A much better schedule than before, I thought I'd go crazy otherwise.  They moved us into a bigger room a couple days ago and it's huge!  They call it the penthouse room because it's the biggest and also has 3 windows that give a panoramic view of downtown Baltimore and the whole harbor.  We'll get to stay in this room the rest of the time here, which will probably be another week I'm thinking.  My mom will be arriving right at that time to help me move over the Children's House which is where we'll stay until mid-December.  So crazy to think that I'm really only on week 2 and have so much more to go. Yikes.
Here's a couple pics . . .

Our new room and view

Here she is getting her first sip of Apple Juice.  She was so happy!

You'll notice that the cup we are using is really a urine measuring cup, LOL!  But we needed to use something to measure how much we were giving her.  So when I went to give her a sip, she said "Mom wait, that's not juice, it's pee!"  And we labeled it as juice, since there IS a lot of pee cups around our room!
