Yesterday's surgery went great! They were able to close up the part by her belly button beautifully. It was only a 45 minute procedure. The plastic surgeon was so nice, and he was really pleased with how it turned out. He said that it should heal much quicker now, and prettier. After the surgery she slept off her anesthesia for a long time, so we took things really slow. Then they took us back up to our room. She did need some pain meds that night, but it was to be expected. I talked to Urology a bit as well and they were happy with everything. They said that they'd talk and see about a release date. I pretty much expected that I'd be at the hospital through the weekend and we'd hear on Monday.
This morning I was preparing myself to enter another boring weekend. I even started writing a blog post about how much it's going to suck. Then one of the guys on the urology team came in and said, we are totally fine for you to go. Say Whaaaaat!!?? I was shocked because I'm so used to them taking everything very slow and conservative. But we were ready. We didn't need to be there anymore. So over the course of many hours of paperwork, packing up our room, getting prescriptions, we finally made our way over to the Children's House. Not an easy task to do alone, so I'm super proud of myself!! I had directions in my hands of everything I need to do, all my supplies, and said goodbye to my trusty nurses who have helped me get through this. It's up to me now. Sure it's scary, but I've paid very close attention to everything and I know her body so well. I feel like we are entering the next phase of this journey, and that makes me so happy! Because we should have gotten to the phase by now, we are definitely behind.
Once we got back to the Children's House we both just relaxed. Our room was a crazy mess with so much stuff to put away, so most of the afternoon I spent organizing. And, I'm so happy to be back sleeping on a real mattress again! Here's some pics of us leaving. I'm bummed I didn't get more pictures of our nurses, so we will go back and visit them sometime soon.
This was the first load of stuff I took back, then I came back for Lily. We accumulated a lot while we were here!
Lily had her bag of Beany Boos by her side
Had to bundle her up pretty good to walk across the street to the Children's House. It was about 45 degrees outside, and she's been in a comfortable 72 degree room for weeks.
Here's our messy room, which is now looking much better
I cleared off a place for all of Lily's supplies and meds. I was dying when the nurse kept giving me more and more supplies. It was out of control and I'm set for life now with gauze and gloves. I think she'll be proud of how well I organized them!

Wow!! You have a big job ahead of you. I wish I was there to help. You will get the hang of it and I hope it goes by quickly. Enjoy the comfortable beds and take advantage of the fun activities and food the Children's house has to offer. I'm relieved that Benny and the boys will be there Monday night. Tight room for so many but I know you will love to see them and they you! Enjoy lot's of hugs and kisses.
