A better morning

Slept at the Children's House last night.  After yesterday, I needed to crash out for awhile.  Came back to the hospital to find things going much better.  Whatever they did yesterday was really working.  She was dry, no leaking.  And her tubes were all draining urine like they should.  Victory?!  I really hope so!!  The other good thing is that her bowels and stomach are waking up.  They decided to stop her NG tube and see if she can handle it without throwing up.  If she's good, then it comes out later today.  Then she can start to drink clears, then all liquids, then soft solids, then solids.  It's definitely a process.  I so wish she could just have a big meal after this, but can't do it for awhile.

One thing we are having to treat is a major rash on her bum.  Because she's been sitting in the same position for a week, and some of that time was sitting in wet urine soaked pads, it caused her butt cheeks to flame up and get red.  We are working on treating that today.  But we've got the best ladies here helping with it.  And compared to all the other stuff she's dealing with, she hasn't complained about it once.
So all in all, things are looking up.

Benny left about an hour ago to fly home which was really really hard.  As much as I don't want him to leave, I know he must.  He needs to be there for the boys and get back to work.  He didn't want to leave, it was hard.  This means I'm alone for the next 6 days till my mom flies in.  6 days of this seems like a lifetime now, so I'm hoping I can do this and that each day will get easier.  I've set up times with the Child Life Specialists to come play with Lily so I can go back and shower or get food when I need to.  That will help me get some breaks here and there.   So here we go, entering week 2 of this 6 week process.
