A Good Report!

Lily's check with Dr.G went great last week. Over the last year she has continued to heal and grow, and her bladder has doubled in size again. We feel very blessed! This basically means that she'll have one more surgery when she's 4 or 5, and then she's done! :-)
Our stay with Dan and Merianne was great, they are so fun and great hosts! Although our trip wasn't completely for fun, we did get to do some sight-seeing around DC. This year I really wanted to go the Archives and the Art Museum, and since it was raining the museums were empty. Then we went out one night to a yummy restaurant with Dan and Mer. DC is very beautiful in the Fall/Winter, very different from CA. We enjoyed discovering the east coast a little more!
Here are some pics of some places we went ( I realize that most pics are of me and Lil, sorry) I'm also bummed that we didn't get any pictures with Dan and Merianne :-( Next time!

Lily (age 5 1/2) will have major bladder reconstruction surgery on Oct 29th at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. It will be an intensive 8 hour surgery, followed by 6 weeks recovery and therapy. Lily was born with Bladder Exstrophy, a very rare and complicated birth defect, and has had many surgeries and procedures in her life so far. This surgery will be an important step for her future. She will finally be continent after having to wear diapers, pull ups, and pads till now. It will not come easy though, as it will take many weeks of hard recovery in a city across the country from our home in California. I am making this blog/journal for my friends who also are dealing with bladder exstrophy, and also so that me and Lily will have a record of our experiences during this trial in our lives.
