We went to Dr Gearhart's office yesterday and today for quick appts. We have become regulars around there now, and he even calls Lily all kinds of nicknames "Lil" "Lily-beth" "Lilikins", etc. So he wants to see how her skin is healing around the belly button so that she can start cathing through it. Today Karen came to talk to us too. She's great, and is kind of the cathing specialist. She's going to be teaching us how to do it and we'll be working with her a lot over the next week. So they said that tomorrow we will start to cath! I'm pretty nervous, but they told me it's all anxiety at first until they realize it's super easy and doesn't hurt. This is going to be our new routine and the new normal, so I really really really hope it goes smoothly. Joanna will be here with us for that appt, so she'll see a lot of what we have to do. I'm sure she'll be in total awe!
They are starting to decorate the Children's House for Christmas. They go all out, it's so pretty. As much as I'm bummed I can't be at home right now, it's kinda cool being away in cold weather for the holidays. And since I know we'll be home in time for Christmas, we kinda get to see it both here and home. But I do feel like I'm missing out on the little things - like yummy smelling candles, Christmas baking, the kid's school parties, getting holiday cards in the mail, and probably more that I'm forgetting. Oh well. This is our priority for sure, and we will be focusing on this till we get to come home and enjoy the holidays. So wish us luck for tomorrow!
